International Regulation
AMAS works proactively to promote internationally competitive regulation in areas such as investment funds, sustainability, taxation, private markets and technology. In close cooperation with its members, partner associations, regulatory authorities and policymakers, AMAS contributes the perspective of the Swiss asset management industry to regulatory developments in Switzerland and abroad.
AMAS is an active member of the European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) and the globally active International Investment Funds Association (IIFA). Through these memberships, AMAS participates in international policy discussions and helps shape regulatory conditions that support efficient markets and create value for investors.
AMAS is also a member of the Swiss Finance Council (SFC) and is represented through the Council in Brussels. The SFC maintains a continuous dialogue with EU institutions and policymakers, giving the Swiss financial sector a coordinated voice in European regulatory debates. AMAS uses this platform to advocate for Swiss interests, regulatory compatibility and reliable access to European markets.
Switzerland is the third-largest asset management market in Europe, with a market share of more than 11%. Around one third of the assets managed in Switzerland originate from foreign institutional clients, underlining the industry’s international and export-oriented character. Strengthening market access, avoiding unnecessary regulatory barriers and expanding the international client base are therefore central priorities for AMAS.
